AI can be a surprisingly useful tool for gospel study — when used with care and humility.
Start with a question
The best way to begin is to bring a real question. Instead of asking AI to "summarize the Book of Mormon," try asking something more specific: "What themes appear across 2 Nephi 3 and 4?" or "Help me understand the context of Alma 32 for a youth lesson."
Use it to generate discussion questions
One of the most practical uses is generating discussion questions for lessons. You can give AI a passage or topic and ask for several questions appropriate for different age groups.
Cross-reference ideas
AI can help you identify related scriptures or gospel principles that connect to your study. Always verify these cross-references directly in the scriptures — AI can suggest connections that aren't always accurate.
Organize your thoughts
After personal study or scripture reading, you can use AI to help you organize your thoughts into a lesson outline, a set of talking points, or a series of personal reflection questions.
Remember the limits
AI is not a replacement for prayerful study, personal revelation, or the guidance of the Holy Ghost. Use it as a starting point, then verify and deepen your study through traditional means.
